Gartelmill HOA

Thank you to everyone who joined us on June 16 for our first board meeting open to the whole community. Turnout was wonderful, and it was great to put faces to names and hear directly from so many of you. One of the board’s biggest goals this year is better communication and transparency, and seeing the room full was the perfect way to start.

If you were not able to make it, here is a quick look at what is happening around Gartelmill.

Community News

The minutes from the June meeting are now posted in our document library, so you can read the full record any time.

We also talked about the year ahead for our community elections. A new Maryland requirement asks that HOA elections be handled independently, and the board is working on a simple, no-cost approach using neutral community volunteers. More details will come well before our annual meeting in March 2027.

Events

We have a fun lineup taking shape for the rest of the year. Keep an eye out for our summer cookout, Fall Dumpster Day, Trunk or Treat, and the Spring Yard Sale. Dates and details will be shared as each event gets closer.

Friendly Reminders

A couple of neighborly notes:

• Common area storage. Please make sure personal items are not being stored on community common areas. Thank you for helping keep our shared spaces clean and open for everyone.
• Street trees. Homeowners are responsible for the trees between the sidewalk and the street in front of their home. Many of our Bradford pears are reaching the end of their life, and they are now considered an invasive species. When it is time to replace one, the county recommends native species. Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources offers a helpful guide to native trees here: https://dnr.maryland.gov/wildlife/pages/habitat/wamdtrees.aspx
